Alphas and Zetas Host 3rd Annual A2Z Race at Your Pace Fun Run
Fayetteville, North Carolina – Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Epsilon Rho Lambda Chapter, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., Gamma Upsilon Zeta Chapter, will host their 3rd Annual A2Z Race at Your Pace Fun Run/Walk Saturday, June 3, 2023at Methodist University. Proceeds from the race will be donated to the March of Dimes March for Babies and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Registration to be open soon. The registration fee is $40. Participants will receive a race shirt and medal.
“Since 2020 we have donated more than $20,000 to the March of Dimes March for Babies. This year we will donate half of all money raised to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center,” said Billy Buckner, co-race coordinator. Donating to our local NICU allows us to directly impact our community here in Fayetteville."
“Our long-term goal is for the A2Z Race a be a signature community fundraising effort that supports a much needed and worthy cause, the health of all mothers and babies. We look forward to wonderful and successful race,” said Buckner.

The Alphas and Zetas partnered to host the inaugural virtual A2Z Race at Your Pace fun run/walk to raise money for the March of Dimes March for Babies April 18-24. Thanks to our sponsors and all those who donated or registered to walk/run to support health equity for all mothers and babies. “This is the first Do it Yourself walk in North Carolina” said Penix. “We are so proud; our whole organization is buzzing about the amount of collaboration between your organizations.”

Local Organizations Host Blood Drive
Fayetteville, North Carolina – The Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, Gamma Upsilon Zeta Chapter; Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, Epsilon Rho Lambda Chapter, and The Blood Connection hosted a community-wide blood drive on Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Old Navy parking lot, located at 131 Glensford Drive, Fayetteville, NC.
“The event benefits the community by supporting efforts to address the critical blood shortage impacting the state. Blood donations have significantly decreased due to COVID-19, so our goal is to identify as least 30 or more volunteers to donate”, said Dr. Letitia Johnson-Arnold, a member of Zeta Phi Beta and event coordinator. “According to the American Red Cross, one donation can potentially save as many as three lives and those that have received a COVID-19 vaccine may still donate.”
The Blood Connection followed COVID-19 safety protocols and appropriate infection control standards to reduce potential transmission. All participants were required to wear a mask.
The Blood Connection donated $300 ($10 per donor)to the virtual A2Z Race at Your Pace 5K/3K fun run for the March of Dimes March for Babies. Donors also received a $10 gift card for participating.
